Setting pressure with a direct-acting reducing valve is performed after filling the pipeline with water.

The reducing valve is adjusted by rotating the adjusting screw compressing the spring until the pressure at the point of impulse intake is equalized with the specified value. The rotation of the adjusting screw smoothly changes the setting pressure, and each number of revolutions corresponds to a certain pressure within the maintained range.

The valve's operation can be checked by changing the flow rate of the water passing through it. The flow rate is changed by any regulating or shut-off valve installed on the same pipeline, while paying attention to the speed of operation and the accuracy of pressure maintenance by the valve. To facilitate pressure adjustment and control valve operation, it is necessary to install a pressure gauge at the point of impulse intake.

Remember, reducing valves can only lower pressure. In case of installation on a pipeline where the pressure will be lower than the required value, the valve will fully open and start closing only when the pressure at the point of installation exceeds the specified value.
