During operation, buffer storage tanks without heat exchangers do not require constant maintenance, and repair may be necessary only in case of housing leakage.

Buffer storage tanks with built-in heat exchangers should be cleaned of scale that accumulates in the lower part once a year. For this purpose, some designs provide a revision flange, while other tanks are equipped with drainage valves in the lower part of the tank.

Regardless of the buffer storage tank design, hydraulic strength and tightness tests should be carried out once a year. The test pressure should be determined in accordance with the buffer storage tank operating instructions.

Since the buffer storage tank's functionality largely depends on the proper functioning of the safety valve, it is recommended to check its performance 3-4 times a year.

If the buffer storage tank is equipped with an electric heater or a magnesium anode, their condition should be checked once a year. A damaged heater or anode should be replaced.
