Location of solid fuel boiler in the room

The minimum distance from the sides and back of the boiler to the nearest enclosing structures should be at least 800mm.

The minimum distance from the front door of the boiler to the nearest enclosing structure is recommended to be at least 1700mm.

Since the surfaces of the boiler can heat up to high temperatures, the minimum distance from the boiler to combustible and medium combustible materials should be at least 100mm. The minimum distance to easily flammable materials should be at least 200mm from the surfaces of the solid fuel boiler.

If necessary, level the boiler with non-combustible wedges and install it at the same level vertically and horizontally.

The boiler housing must be grounded.

Requirements for the room where the boiler is installed

A solid fuel boiler must be installed in a separate room, installation of the boiler in residential premises and hallways is not allowed.

Ventilation opening

Since all solid fuel boilers are manufactured with an open combustion chamber, there should be an uncloseable opening in the room for access to the air necessary for fuel combustion. The air supply opening should be located in the lower part of the wall opposite the wall with the flue.

The cross-sectional area of the ventilation opening should be at least 10cm² per kilowatt of boiler power, but not less than 100cm² (i.e. 10cm x 10cm).

A small cross-sectional area of the ventilation opening will not provide sufficient air supply for fuel combustion, which can lead to fouling of the combustion chamber surface and poisoning by flue gases.

Protection against freezing

If the temperature in the room where the solid fuel boiler is installed may fall below 0°C, non-freezing fluids, such as a solution of propylene glycol, should be used in the boiler circuit.

Foundation for the boiler

Most solid fuel boilers do not require a special foundation and can be installed on a concrete pad more than 50mm above the floor level.

The dimensions of the concrete pad should exceed the size of the boiler by at least 100mm on the sides and from the back, and at least 300mm from the front (see drawing).

Connecting the boiler to the chimney

The connecting section from the flue gas outlet of the boiler to the chimney should be as short as possible, made of non-combustible material, and inclined upwards from the boiler to the chimney.

Connecting the boiler to the heating system

All pipelines between the boiler and the thermal accumulator should be made of metal since the water temperature on these sections can exceed 100°C.

The connection of pipelines, as well as the boiler, should exclude bending, twisting, stretching, or compression stresses on the solid fuel boiler pipes.

Important! The installation of the boiler and its connection to the heating system must be carried out by a specialized organization according to a previously developed project. The quality of installation and the correctness of the boiler connections depend not only on the efficiency of fuel combustion and the durability of the equipment but also on your safety.
