Y-type Filter

Y Strainer - is a protective pipeline fitting designed for coarse filtration of flow from solid impurities. The flow is filtered from mechanical impurities through a metal mesh or perforated sheet with a fixed hole diameter.

Operating Media

Mechanical filters are used in pipelines transporting water, steam, and compressed air with a wide range of working temperatures and pressures. All filters available in our catalog can be used for water, but for other working media, please consult with the suppliers.

Applications

The installation locations of Y Strainers are determined based on regulatory requirements, process conditions, or equipment protection recommendations. In heating and water supply systems of buildings, mechanical filters are installed:

Disadvantages

• A clogged filter creates high pressure losses.
• When the sediment collection chamber is full, it must be cleaned regularly.
• Installation is only allowed on horizontal or vertical pipelines with downward flow.
• Threaded filters generally have a smaller sediment collection chamber compared to flanged filters of the same diameter, so they need to be cleaned more frequently.
