The pressure tank is a hermetically sealed vessel, the volume of which is divided by an elastic membrane. On one side of the membrane is a closed volume of air, and on the other side is water from the water supply system.
Pressure tanks are similar to expansion tanks used in heating systems, but they can only be used with cold drinking water, while expansion tanks can be used with both cold and hot technical water.
The body of the pressure tank is made of stainless or carbon steel. The internal and external surfaces of the tanks are coated with anti-corrosion paint approved for use with drinking water.
Membrane Material
The membrane can be replaceable or non-replaceable. The price of a pressure tank with a replaceable membrane is higher than that of a tank of the same volume with a fixed membrane, but in case of membrane rupture, it is not necessary to replace the entire tank. Additionally, in pressure tanks with replaceable membranes, water does not contact the inner surface of the tank, providing extra protection against corrosion.
Some pressure tanks may be equipped with a pressure gauge, a membrane rupture sensor, and devices to ensure circulation in the tank, preventing water stagnation.
