Pressure regulator adjustment is performed after flushing and filling the pipeline with water. If the adjustment pressure is known precisely and the position on the adjustment scale is clearly defined, the regulator can be adjusted up to the moment of filling.
The pressure regulator is adjusted by rotating the adjustment screw compressing the spring until the pressure in the impulse sampling point is aligned with the set value. The rotation of the adjustment screw smoothly changes the setting pressure, with each turn corresponding to a certain value in the operating range.
To check the pressure regulator, the flow rate of water through any control or shut-off valve installed on the same pipeline is changed, paying attention to the speed of response and accuracy of pressure maintenance. The allowable calibration error of the spring at the boundary values of the adjustment range is 10%.
Remember that pressure regulators can only lower pressure. If the pressure in the pipeline is lower than the set value, the regulator will fully open and will only start to close with an excess of pressure above the set value.
