The principle of operation of the check valve is to block the flow passage with the disc under the influence of reverse flow of the working medium.
In the absence of flow, the pressure of the working medium in the inlet pipe is equal to the pressure in the outlet pipe of the valve, and the disc, under the influence of gravity, spring force, or a lever mechanism, blocks the flow passage, closing the valve.
The force vector holding the disc in the closed position is directed opposite to the direction of the working medium flow.
In the case of forward flow, with increasing pressure in the inlet pipe, the force vector of the flow is directed against the force vector holding the disc in the closed position, and as soon as the pressure of the working medium exceeds the opening pressure, the disc moves, opening the flow passage of the check valve.
In the case of reverse flow, with increasing pressure in the outlet pipe, the force vector of the working medium coincides with the force vector holding the disc in the closed position, and the higher the pressure of the medium, the more the disc is pressed against the valve body.
