Maintenance of the pressure tank:
Checking the initial gas space pressure in the pressure tank. To check the initial gas space pressure, disconnect the tank from the water supply system, drain the water from it, and connect a pressure gauge to the gas space nipple. If the pressure is lower than that set during calibration, the tank must be pressurized with a compressor (possibly a car compressor) through the same nipple.
Checking the on and off pressure of the pump. The pump's on and off pressure is measured with a gauge installed on the pressure tank. For this, you need to open any faucet for water supply and record the pressure value at the moment the pump turns on. The off pressure is recorded after closing the faucet and turning off the pump.
Malfunction | Possible cause | Resolution |
---|---|---|
The pump turns on and off too frequently | Lack of compressed air (nitrogen) in the pressure tank | Pressurize the tank with a car compressor |
- | Damaged membrane | Replace the membrane with an original one |
- | Damaged housing | Restore the integrity of the housing to ensure tightness |
- | Small differential between pump on and off pressure | Increase the difference between pump on and off pressure at the pressure switch |
- | Insufficient volume of the pressure tank | Check Pressure tank volume calculation |
Water leak from the air valve | Damaged membrane | Replace the membrane with an original one |
Air pressure below the calculated value | The air space nipple does not provide a tight seal | Blow out the nipple and restore the calculated pressure in the air space |
Water pressure below normal | Lack of compressed air (nitrogen) in the pressure tank | Pressurize the tank with a car compressor |
- | The pump does not create the required pressure | Check the selection of the pump and its performance |
Repair of the pressure tank with a torn membrane. To identify a torn membrane, it is necessary to disconnect the tank from the water supply system and drain the water. If air escapes from the drainage valve, it means that the membrane's integrity is compromised.
A torn membrane should be replaced if it is replaceable. It is not recommended to glue the membrane, as most adhesives are not suitable for use with potable water, and the cyclical stretching-compressing of the membrane, which occurs several times an hour, is destructive to glued joints.
Attention!
Replacement of parts is allowed only with original spare parts from the tank manufacturer.
It is best to fill the air chamber with an inert gas, such as nitrogen.
Before removing gas from the air chamber, the water must be drained from the tank.
The service life of the pressure tank decreases under maximum pressure values and outside the specified temperature range.
