Only ball valves with a dismountable body are subject to repair. Welded ball valves are not repairable and must be replaced in case of failure.
Malfunction | Cause | Remedy |
---|---|---|
Does not seal off flow | Damaged or insufficiently tight fitting end seals to the ball | 1. Tighten the clamping bolts that press the end seal against the ball. 2. If the end seals are damaged, they should be replaced. |
- // - | Abrasive wear of the ball (the valve was in a semi-open state, which is not allowed) | Replace the ball, and install a mesh filter in front of the valve to catch solid particles that damage the ball. |
Leakage along the stem | Damaged stem seal | 1. Tighten the nut that presses the sealing ring (seal). 2. Replace the sealing ring (seal). |
Cannot open/close | Ball seized | Disassemble the valve, clean the surface of the ball, and replace the end seals if necessary. To avoid recurrence of the malfunction, it is recommended to periodically open/close the valve during operation. |
Attention! Before repairing a ball valve, the area on which it is installed must be drained. Repair work on a ball valve under pressure is not allowed.
