Maintenance and repair of a pressure reducing valve

Maintenance of the pressure reducing valve should be performed in accordance with the operating instructions:

  • It is recommended to check the setting pressure, response speed, and pressure holding accuracy of the valve once a month by smoothly closing the valve on the same pipeline and observing the pressure deviation at the impulse point.
  • If the reducing valve is equipped with an external impulse line, the line should be cleaned once every six months. To do this, the section where the valve is installed is disconnected and drained, and the impulse line is dismantled and blown.
  • The mesh filter installed before the valve should be cleaned as it becomes clogged. The degree of clogging is determined by the pressure gauges provided before and after the filter.

Repair of the reducing valve may be required if pressure deviation from the set value is detected during operation or maintenance.

The cause of pressure deviation may be:

  • Clogging of the impulse line - eliminated by cleaning and blowing;
  • Clogging of the valve disc - eliminated by cleaning the disc and seat after dismantling.
