Water pressure regulator maintenance and repair

Maintenance

1. To ensure stable operation of the water pressure regulator, it is recommended to perform a monthly check of pressure setting, response speed, and pressure holding accuracy. The regulator's operation can be checked by changing the water flow rate passing through it and gradually closing the shut-off valve installed on the same pipeline, while monitoring the pressure deviation at the impulse extraction point.

2. To ensure uninterrupted operation of the system, the impulse extraction line should be cleaned once every six months. To do this, it is necessary to disconnect the section on which the pressure regulator is installed, drain the water, blow out the impulse line before disconnecting it from the regulator and pipeline.

3. It is recommended to clean the mesh filter installed before the pressure regulator as needed. The degree of filter contamination should be evaluated based on the readings of the gauges installed before and after the filter, comparing the actual pressure drop on the filter with the pressure drop on the clean filter.

Repair

Repair of the water pressure regulator may be required if pressure deviations at the impulse extraction point are detected during operation or maintenance.

Possible malfunctions may include various defects such as damage to sealing elements, the regulator mechanism, and the spring. In case of malfunctions that require repair, a thorough diagnosis is necessary to determine the appropriate measures to eliminate the malfunction.

Failure Cause Remedy
The regulator does not respond to changes in pressure at the connection point Impulse line clogged Clean with compressed air or water pressure before disconnecting from the regulator
- Foreign object in the flow path Clean the valve and seat before disassembling the regulator
- The stem is stuck Clean of scale and manually process the stem before disassembling the regulator and hydraulic drive
Regulator is always closed Water pressure before regulator is lower than the set pressure Adjust the set pressure using the adjustment screw or wait for the pressure to increase
- Damaged membrane Original membrane replacement is required
Regulator is always open Water pressure before regulator is higher than the set pressure Adjust the set pressure using the adjustment screw or wait for the pressure to decrease
- Lack of spring or adjustment nut that holds the stem in the closed position No comments
