Maintenance and repair of a water pressure regulator

Maintenance

1. — It is recommended to check the pressure setting, response speed, and pressure maintenance accuracy of the regulator once a month. The regulator's operation is checked by gradually closing the valve installed on the same pipeline with the regulator, while monitoring the deviation of the pressure at the impulse take-off point.

2. — The impulse line should be cleaned once every six months. To do this, the section where the pressure regulator is installed should be disconnected and drained. The impulse line should be blown out after disconnecting it from the regulator and pipeline.

3. — The mesh filter installed before the pressure regulator should be cleaned as it gets dirty. The filter's clogging is determined by comparing the actual pressure drop on the filter with the pressure drop on a clean filter, as indicated by the gauges provided before and after it.

Repair

Repair of the water pressure regulator may be required if there is a deviation in the pressure at the impulse take-off point from the set value during operation or maintenance.

Possible malfunctions and methods for their elimination

Malfunction Cause Elimination
The regulator does not respond to changes in pressure at the connection point Impulse line is clogged Blow out with compressed air or water pressure, after disconnecting it from the regulator
- Foreign object has entered the flow path Clean the gate and seat, after dismantling the regulator
- The stem is stuck Clean off the scale and manually operate the stem, after dismantling the regulator and hydraulic drive
The regulator is always closed Spring or adjusting nut is missing, which holds the stem in the open position No comments
The regulator is always open Water pressure before the regulator is lower than the setting pressure Adjust the setting pressure using the adjustment screw or wait for the pressure to rise
- The diaphragm is torn The original diaphragm needs to be replaced
