Applications of check valves

The installation locations of check valves are determined by the conditions of the technological process, and in some schemes, a check valve should be used in accordance with the requirements of regulatory documents or the conditions of operation of the installed equipment:

• Check valves are used on pressure pipes of all parallel pumps to prevent flow through inactive pumps.
• Check valves are installed at water meter locations in household drinking water supply systems to prevent backflow of water through the meter.
• In heating and ventilation systems with mixing pump units, check valves are installed on the bridge between the supply and return pipes to prevent the flow of the heat transfer medium.
• A check valve is installed on the supply pipe of heating systems connected to heating networks in a dependent scheme if the hydraulic regime of the heat source does not exclude the possibility of draining the heating system.
