Compact heat meter - a complex of devices designed to record the consumption of heat by the heating system of an apartment.
The amount of heat consumed is proportional to the flow rate of the heat carrier and the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of the heating system. Therefore, the apartment heat meter consists of a flow sensor and two temperature sensors connected to a computing system that processes and archives the signals received.
A heat meter for a heating system can only be installed in apartments with separate input of the heat carrier and horizontal piping. Horizontal heating systems suitable for installing apartment heat meters are installed in most newly constructed buildings.
In vertical heating systems, where several vertical branches pass through one apartment, heat meters are not installed. This is due to the fact that in a single-pipe heating system, the temperature difference between the inlet and outlet of the heating device is on average 1°C, and the apartment heat meter takes into account the heat with an allowable error at a temperature difference of 3°C. Therefore, heat meters cannot be installed in such apartments, not even on each riser.
For commercial calculations, all heat meters with flow meters of the 3rd class and above that are listed in the state register, which comply with the technical conditions of the heat supply organization and have passed metrological verification, are allowed.
Some apartment owners, after purchasing a heat meter, are disappointed to find that the meter itself does not save money, and monthly reports must be submitted to the heat supply organization. The section What to know before buying describes the 'dark' side of apartment metering, which many people only learn about after installing an apartment heat meter.
