Installation of the expansion tank
Installation of the expansion tank should be carried out by qualified specialists in accordance with the project and the manufacturer's instructions. Below are general recommendations for the installation of closed membrane expansion tanks.
Installation requirements:
- Shut-off valves should be installed on the supply pipeline to allow for maintenance, and they should be protected from accidental closure.
- A drain valve should be installed between the shut-off valve and the expansion tank connection to drain water from the tank and check the initial pressure in the gas chamber.
- It is recommended to connect the tank to the pipeline using a threaded or flanged connection, as during operation it may be necessary to disconnect the tank from the system for maintenance.
- A pressure gauge and safety valve should be installed near the expansion tank connection point.
- No filters or check valves should be installed on the branch connecting the expansion tank to the heating system.
- The tank elements should not be subjected to static loads from the supply pipelines or other equipment.
- The operating environment parameters at the tank installation site should not exceed the manufacturer's specified limits.
- Before connecting to the heating system, the initial gas pressure in the expansion tank should be set according to the calculated value. The calculation of all necessary parameters can be found in the Expansion tank calculation section of the website.
Installation requirements:
- It is prohibited to modify the tank structure.
- It is prohibited to install an expansion tank with external damage.
- The site intended for the installation of the expansion tank must be able to support the weight of the tank when 100% filled with water.
- The room where the expansion tank is to be installed must allow for the drainage of water from the tank when necessary.
- The room where the expansion tank is to be installed must be heated. Freezing of water is not allowed.
- The weight and dimensions of expansion tanks with a volume of more than 750 liters may complicate installation; make sure the tank will fit through doorways, and consider that its weight will be significant.
- Provide protection for the tank from moisture and mechanical damage.
