What water heater tank is used for

Accumulating water heaters are used in systems with clearly defined uneven water consumption and with mismatched peaks of heat production and consumption.

Depending on the heat source, the following tasks are solved with the help of accumulating water heaters:

• In systems with solar collectors, accumulating water heaters allow to heat water during the day and keep it hot for the day. Water heaters installed directly on a solar collector are called thermosiphons.


• In systems with solid fuel boilers, water heaters are used to regulate heat consumption and reduce the frequency of fuel boiler loads.


• In boiler rooms to reduce the frequency of switching on a large capacity gas boiler. If a rapid water heater is installed in the boiler room instead of an accumulating one, the boiler can be initiated even by opening a single tap, which is of course unacceptable.


• In systems with heat pumps, water heater tanks allow to reduce the frequency of compressor operation and heat water at night using a reduced tariff.


• In systems with high peak water consumption, where the power of the heat source is significantly less than the peak load of the hot water supply system, accumulating water heaters allow to cover high peak loads by long-term operation of a low-power source.


• In systems with electric boilers, accumulating water heaters are used to heat water at night on a reduced tariff and to reduce the load on the power supply network.


• In systems that receive heat from multiple sources, accumulating water heaters allow to heat water with maximum cost savings.


• In systems with interruptions in the supply of thermal energy from a heat source and unacceptable interruptions in the supply of hot water, accumulating tanks allow to heat water during heat supply and use it when it is absent.
