Installation of a flat heat meter is carried out according to the classical scheme, in which the flowmeter is installed in the supply or return pipeline, and temperature sensors in the supply and return pipelines.

The installation location of the flowmeter (whether it is in the supply or return pipeline) is determined by the factory firmware of the meter. This is due to the fact that when calculating the amount of heat consumed, the meter calculates the mass flow rate (t/h) from the volumetric flow rate (m³/h) obtained from the flowmeter, taking into account the density of water from the temperature sensor installed on the same pipeline as the flow sensor. The factory firmware sets the signal for which sensor to use in the calculation.

Ball valves should be installed on both sides of the flowmeter section of the heat meter, which are necessary for disconnection during the device dismantling for the period of verification without draining the system. In addition, many apartment owners use the second ball valve in the direction of the heat carrier as a regulating device to limit the supply to the apartment.

To protect the flow sensor from solid abrasive particles present in the heat carrier flow, especially for mechanical heat meters, a mesh filter should be installed in front of the flowmeter.

Heat meters with ultrasonic flow meters are insensitive to water quality and can be installed on pipelines without additional protection with a mesh filter, unless otherwise specified by the project or installation instructions.

The installation location of the flat heat meter must be outside the apartment and accessible for checking readings by employees of the heat supply organization.

When installing flat heat meters, additional control-measuring devices (manometers and thermometers) are not installed.
