There is a polished stainless steel ball with a through-hole located on a vertical stem in a solid steel casing. When in the open position, the hole in the ball is aligned with the pipeline axis, and when closed, the axes of the hole and pipeline are perpendicular.
The sealing between the crane casing and the ball is provided by compressing PTFE sealing rings onto the ball with a circular spring.
To seal the stem, several gaskets made of rubber, PTFE, or FPM are installed in sequence.
The fully welded crane construction is very reliable and does not require technical maintenance during operation, but they cannot be repaired and must be replaced in case of failure.
Welded steel ball valves are the least metal-intensive and usually cheaper than flanged ones. They are used in critical pipeline sections and hard-to-reach areas, recommended for installation in outdoor heating networks, boiler rooms, and thermal substations.
